The Monetary and Economic Unions room tells about international economic integration. Before the European Union was founded, various forms of cooperation between states existed around the world, both in the form of economic and monetary unions. Such alliances unite countries – they make trade easier, influence the unification of the monetary policy of the associated countries, and help to provide the citizens living within their borders the same level of protection of rights, security and development. Visitors will find here information about the historical coalitions of the 19th and 20th centuries, such as the Latin Monetary Union, the Scandinavian Monetary Union, and the so-called sterling area, as well as, of course, the contemporary European Union. In the middle of the room you can peer into the well of knowledge containing additional information about the European Union, the institutions related to it, and the mechanisms regulating its functioning. Euro banknotes and coins are presented in the showcases.
