In the Numismatist’s Study you can admire over 900 of the most valuable Polish coins and medals from the collection of Narodowy Bank Polski. The space of the hall is divided into two parts. The first is styled as a 19th century collector’s study with period furniture. Attention is drawn to the numismatic cabinet from the period of the Duchy of Warsaw and the collection of medals, which are a unique type of numismatic item (above all, they differ from coins in that they have no specified nominal value). Polish coins issued since the end of the 10th century to the middle of the 19th century are presented in the second part of the collection. This is the most valuable part of Narodowy Bank Polski’s numismatic collection. Among others, the oldest Polish coin is displayed here – the denarius of Boleslaus the Brave, struck around the year 1000. In addition, in attractively prepared thematic multimedia we present details about the inscriptions and images on the coins and numismatic curiosities. All numismatic detectives, big and small, should reserve extra time in the Numismatist’s Study!
